The Sliding Carpet is featured in the latest issue of ZUKUNFTSFLIEGER, the educational magazine from BDLI, the German Aerospace Industries Association (Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie).
ZUKUNFTSFLIEGER is BDLI’s initiative to spark an interest in aerospace among primary school pupils in Germany through magazines and competitions. This issue has a print run of 120.000 copies and is being distributed to schools, museums, airports, planetariums and companies across the country.
The Sliding Carpet, or “the Flying Carpet,” as the magazine and ramp agents, calls it, appears in the feature “Ein Koffer geht auf die Reise” (“A Suitcase Goes on a Journey”). The feature gives a simple explanation of how the carpet works and how it improves ergonomics and reduces physical strain for the people who load baggage onto the aircraft.
